As part of a busy summer of scheduled events around King’s Cross, British band Coldplay will be turning the St. Pancras London neighbourhood in to a vibrant hub of immersive art, music and culture with their much anticipated “King’s Cross Takeover”, running from late August through to early September 2025.
The multifaceted event is designed to go beyond the typical concert experience , offering fans a unique change to engage with the band’s latest creative projects and celebrate their ongoing Music of the Spheres world tour – as part of which Coldplay will takeover Wembley Stadium for a series of sold out gigs in August.
Central to the takeover is the highly immersive 360 degree screening of A Film For The Future at the Lightroom venue in King’s Cross. The film is a kaleidoscopic visual accompaniment to Coldplay’s recent album Moon Music, which was created by over 150 visual artists from 45 countries. Each artist crafted unique visuals inspired by snippets of the album’s music. The immersive run will be held from August 21st to September 8th at Lightroom, a 12 minute walk from the St. Pancras London.
The King’s Cross takeover also features a free outdoor photography exhibition titled Confetti Diaries: A Photographic Journey Around The World With Coldplay, curated by tour photographer Anna Lee. This exhibition showcases over 75 images captured during the band’s Music of the Spheres world tour, the most attended tour of all time. The photos will be displayed outdoors around King’s Cross, transforming the area into one of London’s largest outdoor gallery areas.
The takeover also included post show talks giving deeper insights into the making of A Film For The Future and the art of tour photography.
Coldplay’s commitment to sustainability , including powering the Wembley shows entirely with renewable energy sources, aligns with the environmentally conscious ethos surrounding the King’s Cross activities. It’s a bold reflection of Coldplay’s creative vision and community spirit, set against the dynamic backdrop of one of London’s most vibrant cultural districts right here on the doorstep of the St. Pancras London.
